Dog Therapy Calms Autistic Children
Health For Life is pleased to introduce the addition of a new staff member. Scout, a two-year-old Labrador/Golden Retriever mix, received her training to assist the visually impaired at the Guide Dog Foundation in New York. When an illness forced her into an early retirement, Scout did what many Americans do; she moved to Florida. She was then adopted by Sylvie Morin, Doctor of Oriental Medicine and owner of Health For Life who explains, "A lot of hard work and financial donations went into training this guide dog. It made sense to adopt Scout, care for her health, and retool her skills to become the clinic’s therapy dog." Scout can be found greeting patients or lying by them quietly while they receive their acupuncture treatment; however, her main task is to accompany autistic children into the hyperbaric chamber. "Therapy dogs have the ability to calm us," continues Dr. Sylvie. "Scout’s reassuring presence is very helpful in keeping children occupied while they are in the confined space of the hyperbaric chamber." Keeping with the natural philosophy, Scout’s health is kept stable with a special diet, herbal medicine, and hyperbaric treatments.
Health For Life is located at 402 N. Babcock St., Suite 101, Melbourne. For information or to schedule a free health consultation, call 321-259-0555.
Downtown Melbourne Massage Therapy
Amanda Lewis, LMT, continues to learn new massage techniques to help benefit clients dealing with chronic pain, stress, and an inability to relax. She uniquely calls herself a good mechanic quoting Clair Davies, author of several trigger point therapy books: "A good mechanic cared about the details and he stuck with the job until he got it right. He could find the solution to a problem even if it wasn’t in the book." Amanda suggests clients will not only feel more relaxed when their massage session is complete, they will also have less pain, stiffness, and more flexibility in joints, extremities, neck, and back. Offering Swedish, deep tissue, Myofascial Release, and Lymphatic Drainage massage, Amanda has six years experience and is dedicated to addressing the individual issues of each client.

The Gauzeway Offers "Smart Clothing"
The Gauzeway is excited to offer natural cotton clothing that is designed to accommodate Florida everyday life with style. "In Florida’s summer heat we want comfortable clothing that won’t stick to us, weigh us down, or turn into a wrinkled mess at the first sign of humidity," explains owner Jennifer Davis. "The flowy gauze pieces are "hydrophilic," or water-loving. They are made to wick away sweat from our bodies leaving us dry and comfortable." Additionally, the fabric is woven in a special diagonal manner to allow maximum airflow for cooling yet is still opaque and provides a barrier from the sun’s harmful rays. This unique pattern also prevents the fabric from holding wrinkles, thus making them perfect for travel and looking your best while keeping you cool, comfortable, and protected.
All of the Gauzeway’s designs are made for every size and for everyday life, from running errands to entertaining.
The Gauzeway is located in Historic Downtown Melbourne at 832 E. New Haven Ave. For more information call 321-723-0334 or visit www.Gauzeway.com. Monday-Saturday 9:30am-8pm Sunday 11:30am-6pm.
